Anya Taylor-Joy is enjoying her 28th birthday in New York City. The actress stepped out wearing a pair of Maison Margiela on Tuesday, putting a twist on her casual look.
Taylor-Joy’s Tabi loafers were released by the brand for fall 2020. They feature Margiela’s signature split toe and are made of patent leather. Paired with distressed jeans, a tank top and a leather jacket, they kick up the casual but edgy vibe of Joy’s look.
Margiela’s Tabis are a distinctive style that have long been a cult favorite. First launched in 1988, they were inspired by “tabi” style socks worn in ancient Japan. Recently with the increase popularity of e-tailers like Ssense, Tabi styles have been receiving widespread acceptance worn by the likes of Kylie Jenner, Dua Lipa and Hunter Schafer. Margiela offers boots, brogues, and a stiletto-heeled pump with the characteristic Tabi toe.
Taylor-Joy also wore a pair of black, skin tight boots featuring a circle heel from Courreges in New York City Tuesday. Those vegan leather styles reached almost to her knee.
Watch on FN
While in town last night, she headed to the Brooklyn Museum of Art. There, she was one of a number of celebrities to watch the Christian Dior pre-fall 2024 show from the front row. She was on-trend at that event in a pair of black pointed toe patent leather pumps.
At that event the “Mad Max: Furiosa” lead joined invitees like Rosamund Pike, Alexandra Shipp, Michelle Williams, Tony Yu, Naomi Watts and Kai Schreiber. The show featured pieces that were first previewed to media in December.
